Chelsea Street Bridge Repair Update
The Chelsea Street Bridge is scheduled for
closure this weekend, July 10-11, starting Friday night at 8:00 PM.
If necessary construction managers might have to extend the closure
through Monday and Tuesday, July 12-13, in the event of inclement
weather over the weekend.
The purpose of the closure is to allow contractors to install the
remaining upper section of the vertical support towers on the East
Boston side, a procedure which is very sensitive to weather
conditions, particularly wind velocity, due to the height of the
installation cranes which exceed 200 feet. The regular nighttime
closures remain in effect.
Any last minute changes will be indicated on the many variable
message signs near and approaching the bridge.
