Rep. Basile Named to Three Committees:
Transportation, Education and Telecom
State Representative Carlo Basile, (D-East Boston) received his
committee assignments for the 2007-2008 Legislative Session. House
Speaker Salvatore F. DiMasi assigned Representative Basile to the
following committees: Joint Committee on Transportation, The Joint
Committee on Education and the Joint Committee on Telecommunication,
Utilities and Energy.
“I am honored to be appointed to these three important Committees.
These posts come with much responsibility and I look forward to the
challenges that lie ahead. I am especially pleased with being
appointed to the Joint Committee on Transportation. Having
representation from East Boston on this committee will serve to be
very beneficial to the community considering we are home to the
country’s 16th busiest Airport, five MBTA stations, major roadways
and tunnels,” said Basile. “I would also like to thank Speaker
DiMasi for the trust he has put in me and for the opportunity to
serve on these three important committees.”
The Transportation Committee considers all matters concerning the
development, operation, regulation and control of all means of
transportation in the air, on land or in the water, the imposition
of tolls on tunnels or bridges and such other matters as may be
referred. The Education Committee considers all matters concerning
education. The Telecommunication Committee considers all matters
concerning the exploration, exploitation and development of energy
sources, such as coal, gas, oil, nuclear fusion, solar rays, tidal
movement, etc., including the sites of energy facilities, public
utilities, wind farms, and bottle bill.
This is Representative Basile’s first term in the Massachusetts
House of Representatives. He was elected in a special election in
November 2007. Carlo Basile lives in East Boston with his wife
Crystal and his two sons Carlo and Christian.
