Honor Medals for Excellent Service to Community

Jack Williams, Wendy Zinn, Josue Cabrera, Winthrop Girl Scouts to
be honored Nov. 6
The Bay State Chapter of Freedoms Foundation will
present Honor Medals for community service work to three individuals
and a Winthrop youth organization during the chapter’s 30th Annual
Awards Banquet on Saturday, November 6, 2010. The ceremony will
begin at 12:30 p.m. at Spinelli’s Banquet Facility, 282 Bennington
St. (Day Square) in East Boston.
Prestigious George Washington Honor Medals will be presented to Jack
Williams of WBZ-TV Channel 4 in Boston, Wendy Zinn of the Greater
Boston YMCA, East Boston High School student Josue Cabrera, and Girl
Scout Troup 454 of Winthrop.
The public is invited to attend this special celebration to honor
these award winners. Tickets are $40 per person and can be obtained
by calling chapter Executive Director Judge Joseph Ferrino
(retired), at 617-569-2110.
Jack Williams will be honored for his “Wednesday’s Child” weekly
feature that helps find permanent homes for Special Needs children
and raises funds for Special Needs adoptions.
Wendy Zinn will be honored for her work to establish and build
successful YMCA programs that serve thousands of children and
families in East Boston, Chinatown and Boston.
Josue Cabrera is a member of the East Boston High School Junior ROTC
program. He will be honored as the Youth Essay Award winner and will
read his essay during the celebration.
Winthrop Junior Girl Scout Troop 454 and its leader, Kelly Nichols,
will be honored for their service to community, including helping to
prepare care packages for members of the military serving overseas.
The Bay State Chapter of Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge seeks
to educate and inspire awareness of the principles upon which
America was founded and the responsibilities of citizens in a free
society.
