Richard Fields is a horse enthusiast, rancher and developer of resort properties, entertainment venues, and casino gaming facilities. He became the principal owner of Suffolk Downs in 2007. Built in 1935 by 3,000 workers in just 62 days, the historic racetrack is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year. Prior to acquiring his interest in Suffolk Downs, Mr. Fields co-developed the Seminole Hard Rock Casino and Hotel with locations in Tampa and Hollywood, Florida. The casino resorts, which opened in early 2004, are among the most successful in North America. In December 2005, Mr. Fields established the Fields Family Foundation, a non-profit organization that provides ongoing support and resources to a variety of charitable organizations. The foundation primarily focuses on the needs of children, medical research, law enforcement, and agricultural needs throughout the United States. A devoted rancher and conservationist, Mr. Fields actively supports the American Quarter Horse Association through the AQHA Youth Assistance Program and serves on the Board of Farm Aid.
