Boston to Host US Junior Sailing Championship
This Thursday and Friday Piers Park Sailing Center on Boston Harbor
Hosts US Sailing’s Chubb US Junior Sailing Championship
What: US Sailing’s Chubb US Junior Sailing Championship will
come to Boston Harbor this Thursday and Friday. The country’s best
junior sailors will compete this week in the national semi-finals
with the winners advancing to the National Championship in San Diego
at Mission Bay Yacht Club.
The regatta will consist of eight junior (14-18 years old) teams
from Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and New York
competing in a series of races over the course of two days. Sailors
will compete in three classes – single-, double- and triple-handed –
with three boat types – Laser (11 ft), C420 (14 ft) and Lightning
(19 ft).
Who: The best junior sailors from across the Northeast,
including last year’s national second place winner from Newport, RI,
skipper Luke Adams, whose father Ed is a three-time America’s Cup
sailor.
When: Racing Schedule:
Thursday, July 15th, 9 a.m. – Sunset
Friday, July 16th, 9 a.m. – completion
Where: Races may be viewed from any harbor vantage point.
Race headquarters is located at Piers Park on Boston
Harbor, 95 Marginal Street, East Boston. Water taxi service to Piers
Park will be continuously available.
