STRIKE OUT COLON CANCER AT FIRST PRIORITY CREDIT UNION'S BASEBALL
TOURNEY. APRIL 19 and 18 AT EB STADIUM
Help raise money for Boston Medical Center with First Priority
Credit Union's Strike Out Colon Cancer Baseball tourney.
The event will be held on April 18 and 19, 2009 at East Boston
Stadium. First Pitch will be 12 noon and Newton South, Revere and Malden High Schools along with East
Boston will participate. First game will be Newton South v.
Malden. In the the second game, East Boston Vs. Revere, Mayor Tom
Menino along with Mayor Tom Ambrosino from Revere joined by State
Rep Kathi-Anne Reinstein will throw out another pitch for the
start of this game.
The tourney was organized by Head Coach Phil Brangiforte, Carrie
Brangiforte (Phil’s Wife) and Jacki Anthony and Hockey
Coach and police officer Robert Anthony.
The baseball tourney is the second sports event organized by locals
to raise funds against cancer. An Ice Hockey Tourney is held in the
fall to raise dollars to fight breast cancer.
To date the locals have raised over $12,000 for BMC. So this past
summer Officer Anthony's daughter Carrie was treated for Colon Cancer and
his
Family along with the East Boston High Baseball team took on this project.
First Priority Credit Union sponsors both events. “First Priority
Credit Union stepped up big for us and East Boston High School,”
says Robert Anthony.
State Rep Carlos Basile will be on hand with Junior.
Lewis of the The Boston Foundation, Carrie
Brangiforte, colon cancer survivor, Jacki Anthony and Derek
Broden from First Priority Credit Union. Doctors and Nurses will
also be throwing out first pitches.
Coach Phil Brangiforte will be making a special
presentation to Derek Broden for First Priority's support. First
Priority will also be sponsoring the upcoming Breast Cancer event.
Hot dogs, drinks, hamburgers, ice cream and more
will be sold to raise money for Boston Medical Center efforts
against colon cancer. President of East Boston Youth Hockey Anthony
Pascucci, T.T. Clark from Pop Warner and Anthony Albano are also
helping with the cooking and and other tasks.
