EAST BOSTON RELAY FOR LIFE
Community Partners
Walk the Walk to Support Annual East Boston Cancer Relay
East Boston, MA – June 11, 2010 – The Second annual American
Cancer Society - East Boston Relay for Life is set for June 18th
through 19th at Sartori Stadium. During the Relay, dozens of teams
and hundreds of walkers circle the track throughout the night to
raise money for the American Cancer Society.
This Year – community partners have increased their involvement in
ways that enable their customers to get involved. Spinelli’s Ravioli
and Pastry (282 Bennignton St., East Boston, MA) shop a returning
partner – has increased their participation by sponsoring a cake
coloring contest that is tied to the American Cancer Society’s ‘More
Birthdays’ theme and is collecting entries from school-aged children
and crafting one lucky youth’s winning cake design into a real cake,
which will be presented at Relay. Folks can also drop into
Spinelli’s to pay tribute to a loved one and make a donation to the
Relay. Another returning community sponsor First Priority Credit
Union (100 Swift St. and Bennington, East Boston, MA ), has taken
the lead with the ‘First Priority Quarter Mile Challenge’. This
year, the East Boston Relay for life has a goal to completely circle
the stadium’s quarter mile track in quarters. If they are successful
in placing quarters end to end that make it all the way around the
track, they will raise $10,000. By doing this – they will be making
Relay history – being the first of 5,000 relays to accomplish this.
Drop in and drop off some quarters in the collection jugs located at
either their East Boston or South Station branches.

New community partner – ‘Christine’s Hair Design’ of Revere – is
(653 Broadway Revere, MA), is hosting a cut-a-thon on Sunday – June
13th from 11:00 to 1:00. Stylist Robin Marshall of team “Chunky
Couture Super-Sized Cure” and co-workers will be on hand to provide
wet-cuts (no blow dry) for $10 with all proceeds going to the Relay.
Even if you’re not due for a haircut – you can drop in, show your
support and purchase a luminaria to honor a loved throughout relay
or make a donation.
