"HISTORY OF SUFFOLK
DOWNS" DINNER - THURSDAY, APRIL 10, 5:30 p.m. Suffolk
Downs
Suffolk Downs racetrack has been an entertainment staple in the East
Boston community for many decades, and as such it has a very rich
history.
Christian Teja, a graduate of Boston College, is the director of
public and media relations at Suffolk Downs and president of the New
England Turf
Writers Association. He developed an interest in the background of
Suffolk Downs and decided several years ago to research and write a
book entitled
"Suffolk Downs" which includes more than 200 images from the track's
history.
At this Chamber Dinner Meeting, join us for an Italian buffet as we
listen to Christian's narration of these images from the track's
long racing and live entertainment history in our community. Tickets
are only $20, and there will be cash bar. Doors and bar will open at
5:30pm; dinner will be served at 6:00pm, with the presentation to
begin shortly thereafter. This dinner presentation will take place
in the Turf Club's Topsider Room, which features a stunning view of
the entire racecourse.
Several autographed copies of "Suffolk Downs" will be raffled off as
door prizes.
This dinner is open to all those interested in learning or
revisiting the track's history, including residents of East Boston,
Revere, Winthrop, and Chelsea.
