AWARD WINNING PIANIST FROM ITALY, ROBERTO PLANO, TO PERFORM IN CAMBRIDGE

Classical Pianist to Make Only Area Concert Appearance

 

Cambridge, MA – Roberto Plano, a prize winning classical pianist from Italy, will give a recital at the Dante Alighieri Italian Cultural Society, 41 Hampshire Street, Cambridge, MA (Kendall Square) on Sunday, March 13, 2005 at 3:00 p.m.  Mr. Plano will be performing works by Scarlatti, Brahms, Respighi, Villa-Lobos and Liszt. No stranger to piano competitions, Robert Plano was Third Laureate of the 2003 Honens International Piano Competition, as well as a finalist of the 2003 Busoni Competitions and First Place Winner of the Cleveland International Piano Competition in 2001.  This emerging young artist has been gaining a worldwide reputation for his musical skill and interpretation. 

Plano has performed throughout North America, including at Alice Tully Hall in New York City’s Lincoln Center.  He regularly performs throughout Europe, notably at Sala Verdi in Milan, Salle Cortot in Paris, The Chopin Festival in Poland, as well as in Munich, Spain and Japan.  The Post Journal of Jamestown, NY had this to say of Roberto Plano:

Mr. Plano already has two recordings on Italy’s Sipario Dischi label of works by Chopin and Liszt.  He is a favorite guest artist on various radio programs, including NPR, WNYC in New York and Boston’s own WGBH’s “Classics In the Morning” and will perform live on that broadcast the morning after his recital at the Dante Alighieri Society.

 

The Dante Alighieri Society is a cultural organization promoting Italian language and culture.  They offer Italian classes for children and adults as well as a variety of cultural events, including concerts, art exhibits, lectures and films.
