On Exhibition April 2-30th whimsical oil paintings of ceramic ducks and
other
tchotchkes by Maureen O'Connor and "Le Voyage", photographs of Narbonne and
the Languedoc Region of France and Rome by Fran Rowan, a longtime
East Boston neighborhood activist.
The selection of works include O'Connor's recent series of still life work
involving bright fabrics, ceramic ducks, lemons &
flowers. This promises to be an antidote to
seasonal blahs. " Le Voyage", includes black & white and sepia photographs
of landscapes and interiors from France and Rome
including the Spanish Stairs and the Vatican.
The work will be on exhibition at Atlantic Works at 80 Border Street, a new
exhibition space in East Boston with spectacular views of Boston Harbor.
With a growing number of artists displaced by
Boston's soaring rents, East Boston is poised to
become the next artist enclave not unlike the Fort Point Channel area.
Growing out of the
East Boston Artist Group
(EBAG), Atlantic Works Gallery is
the newest manifestation of this trend. With 29 members, Atlantic Works
hopes to become a permanent exhibition space in
East Boston.

Maverick Square left on Maverick Street 5 short
