HOW? The Chelsea Creek Action Group (CCAG) is leading the "Chelsea Creek Planning Process" a series of events where YOU and other residents of Chelsea, East Boston and Revere will have the opportunity to tell professional planners what you would like to see along the Chelsea Creek.
You will be able to tell us whether or not you want open space, parks, housing, stores, jobs, industry, hotels or other things along the Chelsea Creek. At the end of the Planning Process, our professional planners will have a report, based on your ideas and concerns, that will make recommendations for the future of the Chelsea Creek. The report will include graphics, maps, and diagrams.
CHELSEA CREEK PLANNING PROCESS April 20th 9:30am 4pm Williams School/ Community School 180 Walnut St. FREE BREAKFAST, FREE LUNCH, FREE CHILDCARE, FREE TRANSLATION, FREE DOORPRIZES
WHAT IS THE CHELSEA CREEK ACTION GROUP? The Chelsea Creek Action Group (CCAG) is a group of Chelsea and East Boston residents working to improve the Chelsea Creek and land alongside it. CCAG is led by the Neighborhood of Affordable Housing and the Chelsea Green Space and Recreation Committee. WHY SHOULD YOU BE INVOLVED? We have an opportunity to help make our the Chelsea Creek a better place for us to visit, live near, work and do business. Without residents involvement, the Creek will forever remain an industrial dumping ground for Boston and the region. It is about time Chelsea, East Boston and Revere people had the opportunity to discuss what happens in their backyard! Help us improve our neighborhoods! This planning process will help us look at how cleaner businesses can co-exist with attractive open space, recreational facilities and public access to the Chelsea Creek. This could potentially mean more greenspace, parks, environmentally sound jobs, housing, etc. Your opinion matters!!! WHO IS ORGANIZING THIS? The planning process is being sponsored by Chelsea Creek Action Group, Chelsea Green Space and Recreation Committee, Neighborhood of Affordable Housing and Urban Ecology Institute. The City of Revere has also helped with the event. To lead this visioning process, we hired the consultant team, BSC/TerraSphere/ Waterfront Center. This team is made up of experts in planning for waterfront and industrial areas, environmental planning, architecture, zoning, and working with communities. WHEN IS IT? There will be four meetings in all. The most important meeting will be on Saturday, April 20th, from 9:30 to 4 p.m. at the Williams Middle School/ Community School at 180 Arlington Street in Chelsea (see directions below). At this meeting, we will show slides of ideas from other working waterfronts, learn about the Chelsea Creek waterfront, and get your ideas down on paper. Follow-up meetings will be on Wednesdays May 15th, May 29th and June 19th at 6:30 p.m. at the East Boston High School, 86 White Street. FOOD, CHILDCARE, AND DOOR PRIZES: On April 20th, we will provide free breakfast, lunch, childcare and door prizes. FREE TRANSPORTATION: We will also have a free shuttle bus leaving from Shaws Supermarket, Liberty Plaza in East Boston at 9:15, 9:45 and 10:15 a.m and returning at 4:15.
