Photo Essay - Mt.
Carmel's Procession in Honor of the
Madonna Addolorata
|

On Sunday,
September 20, the faithful from Mt.
Carmel Parish in East Boston honored the
Madonna Addolorata with a Mass,
procession and liturgy. Each year, the
local Catholics from the Italian church
proclaim their devotion to the Virgin
Mary of Sorrow. This tradition originates
in Mirabella Enclano Avellino, Italy and
is continued in East Boston through the
efforts of local businessman Benito Tauro
and countless others. The Roma Band
accompanied the march filling the streets
with religious and patriotic sound. The
day's events raised over $3,000 for Mt.
Carmel Parish. Photographs taken during
the Chelsea Street segment of the
procession.
