Town of Wakefield Presents Festival Italia 2013

There’ll Be Food, Entertainment, Song, Music, and Dancing In the Streets on Saturday, August 17th 2 – 8 p.m.


The Town of Wakefield’s Festival Italia 2013, organized through the Event Planning Committee (EPC) presents a fun-filled, family oriented, free (unless otherwise noted), Festival Italia 2013.

ENTERTAINMENT
Live Music – Look for the “Summer Sounds” stage, near the Beebe Library, where students from Onset Music will be filling the street with live music from 2-3 p.m.

Local vocalist Valerie Gigolo, a big hit at last’s year festival, will return to the festival, and give two performance -3 – 4 p.m. and again from5:30 – 6:30 p.m.

Local musician Audie Bridges, accompanied by his two sons, will be playing guitars with an Italian twist during their performance from 4:15-5:15.

Tom Marchant and the North Ave Band will close out the evening, performing from 6:45-8 p.m.

The Jazzabelles, a new group sponsored by Sharon’s Pet Service, will be joining the festival. The Jazzabelles, an all-female big band jazz band, appeals to a cross section of audiences and age groups. The group will be performing on lower Albion St., across from Sharon’s Pet Services from 3-8 p.m. The group will also perform some Italian favorites. Stop by, enjoy some music and dance in the street!

Return performances: Dana Cox from CnDJ‘s, Tim Kelly playing the keyboard, singing and impersonating will be performing in front of Florence’s Fashion on Albion St, and the ever-popular roving accordion player Carmen Spada will entertain the many festival goers.

Near the Lincoln St. Parking Lot, local dance studios (Dance Studio, Dance Track, Catch the Funk, Miss Krysta Dance Studio, and Synergy) will perform throughout the event.

CHILDREN/ADULT ACTIVITIES
On-Going in the Streets – Face Painter, Balloon Man and Stilt Walker/Juggler Boris Koski will return to Main & Albion Streets to entertain all festival participants.
Green Screen - Have the kids line up for a group photo at the Green Machine, which will be located in the Lincoln St. Parking Lot. Pick from hundreds of backdrops. This is part of the COUPON BOOK* special.

Rock Climbing - Have you ever wanted to try rock climbing? Here’s your chance. The wall will be located at the Lincoln St. Parking Lot. This is part of the

Boston Sports Club will be setting up a Moon Bounce, Fitness Challenge, Zumba Class, Kettle Bell Class, Agility Ladder & Agility Hurdles and prizes will be available.

Car Show /Motor Cycles- Classic, Muscle, Street Rods and Exotic Cars will be on display near the Beebe Library. Stewy’s Cycles will be displaying a variety of customized motorcycles.

Wheel of Chance –Always a sellout with over 100 prizes valued at $10 or more, be one of the first to spin the wheel to win a prize. The wheel will be located at the intersection of Albion & Main Streets. This is part of the COUPON BOOK* special.

Candy Stop – The popular Candy Stop will be returning. Have the kids fill a bag with their favorite sweets. This is part of the COUPON BOOK* special.

FOOD AND DRINK
Beer Garden – Gather your friends to attend Wakefield’s 1st Beer Garden. It will be opened from 2-7 p.m. and will be serving a large variety of craft and micro brews, as well as the long standing favorite, Bud Lite.

Whites & Reds –Greenwood Wine & Spirits will be hosting a free wine tasting event from 4-6 p.m. Drop by their tent and try something different.

What’s An Italian Festival With Out Food? – The list continues to grow. Many local food establishments, who are supporters, will be present on Albion & Main St. Road Dog (slush), Swiss Baker, The Chocolate Truffle, Big Jon’s Pizza, CnD’s, Cupcake City, Dockside, Laurie’s 909, Ristorante Molise, Noonan Concessions, Phu-Ket, Polcari’s, Portobello’s, and Harrow’s will be serving up an array of foods. You’ll also find Kris’s Kernels returning to pop his delicious free popcorn.

NON-PROFIT GROUPS
Local non-profit groups are setting up tents along Main and Albion St. Drop by their tents, and pick up information about these wonderful groups that provide so many services to our community. Boys and Girls Club, Chamber of Commerce, Hartshorne House, Horizon House, Sanborn, Single Volunteers, Sons of Italy, St. Joseph’s Church, Cub Scout Troop Packs, Wakefield Cares, and Rotary Club will be present
