This
year's festival promises not to disappoint as Italia Unita has
pledged to make this event one to remember. Festival Chairman and
coordinator Ben Tauro said, "We want to continue to create
an atmosphere that fosters pride in our Italian heritage. We want
to remember our forefathers who have settled in America. We have
designed a weekend with authentic Italian dishes, Italian
cultural games and entertainment."
Besides the
vast amount of food and games, this year's event will feature
live performances including big band music bringing you back into
the swing era with the Starlighters Orchestra, Italian Neapolitan
singer Fillipo Valli and his maestro, Italian bands, Italian folk
dancers and other Italian attractions such as bocce courts,
artistic Italian displays, a spaghetti eating contest and much
more.
Live music
from Brooklyn based disco group Mantus singing their hits
"Boogie to the Bop", "Turn Around" and
"(Dance it) Freestyle Rhythm". Italia Unita will also
present the 1st Italian American achievement award to renown
boxing trainer Goody Petronelli distinguished for training boxing
star "Marvelous" Marvin Hagler. Governor Argeo Paul
Cellucci has also been invited to make an appearance at the
opening ceremony on September 5th to say a few words.
Join us on September 5,6, and 7, parking is available although public transportation is recommended on the Blue Line stop at Maverick Square.
