Help make
the East Boston art scene come
alive!
Open Art
Show
Interesting
things are going on in East
Boston these days. And the
growing community of artists in
Eastie, with their palettes,
cameras, and unique forms of
energy, is one of the more
exciting parts. So, here's an
invitation to come together and
see what we might want to do
together; as artists, as friends,
as members of this community.
Saturday, August 26, starting at
7 p.m.
Bring art,
bring drinks, bring energy
Meet to discuss projects and
issues and we'll hold our first
open critique; s long as you
bring art, you're welcome to
participate in the critique.

location information
In the
meantime, here are some of the
ideas and issues we'll be working
on for the future: ZUMIX, the youth music
program on Maverick Street, is
hosting six 2-month shows of art
on its walls starting in
September. The November/December
show is open to all East Boston
resident artists, any age and any
experience (due to the nature of
the space, we are limited to
three 2D pieces from each artist;
pieces must be ready to be hung
on the walls).
There is
also an invitational for the
January/February show that will
loosely examine the relationship
between human and floral forms.
And a two-person show in May/June
that is currently open. We're
beginning a slide archive of
artists; this will help us put
together exciting shows, both for
the local community and for a
wider audience; bring four
representative slides and a
resume/cv to help us start the
archive. We're establishing a
group for monthly critique
sessions. We're reaching out to
local businesses to see which of
them might be interested in
showing art in their offices and
spaces.
There are
also plans to discuss long-term
issues like work space and
housing concerns for artists,
model groups, and how our
presence in the community can be
of greatest benefit for all.
