With Boston Rob on the new season of Survivor, and Ashley
Rodriguez of Chelsea on this season's offering of American Idol,
who else can Boston put forth for your viewing pleasure. How about
some local East Boston talent. I'm speaking, of course, of “Weymouth
After Dark”.
East Boston natives, and brothers Frank and Joe Possemato, host the
half-hour comedic talk show. The brothers launched their talk and
comedy-sketch show in 2004, two years after moving to Weymouth.
Touted as the “talk show for Massachusetts and the world”, the boys
deliver on the funny, without taking cheap shots for laughs.
“We could make each other laugh in the car when we were
driving somewhere, so why not do something that maybe other people
could see, too,’’ Frank Possemato remembered. “I don't know when we
actually thought to do a show, it just sort of happened” chimed in
his brother Joe, who could easily be a stand in for “All in the
family” star Rob Reiner.
Conceived as a parody of local access cable television, the show has
begun to take shape this past season with the addition of local
stand up comedian Jason Chamberlain, and East Boston's own funny man
Josh Christian (of Kappy's fame). With long time side kick and
Eastie son Rockin' Rob Santarpio rounding out the cast, this show is
ready to make the jump from hobby to something more serious.
The show is being considered by some of the cable networks, and
hopefully soon we'll have another small screen presences for Boston.
Until then you can catch the show all over Massachusetts and on BNN-TV
here in Boston on Saturday nights at 1:00 a.m. (after you watch SNL).
The show will also stream on BNN-TV's website while it's on the air,
if you can't find a local station that carries it.
Can't wait to catch the show on TV, you can watch it on video
sharing giant “You Tube” or on the “Hollywood East” website. With
Joe's penchant for history, Josh's impressions, the angry “George
Costanza” like style of Jason, and Frank to act as the anchor and
keep the show on track, there is something for every viewer.
Lately, Frank and Joe have been in California shopping the show, and
with everyone else eagerly preparing and writing for a new season,
Weymouth After Dark is ready (now even more than ever) to deliver
the laughs to “Massachusetts and the world”.
